About Marion-Alachua Dog Training Association

Founded in 1981, Marion-Alachua Dog Training Association (MADTA) is a volunteer, nonprofit club that welcomes all dogs (mixed breed or pure bred) to our training classes in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Scent work and Conformation.   You do not need to be a club member to take advantage of our training classes.

MADTA is an affiliate of the American Kennel Club.  Activities include AKC trials, matches, seminars, and special demonstrations.

A few weeks or months of diligent training can develop an understanding and friendship between dog and owner that will last a lifetime.

We use proven Positive Reinforcement training methods so that you and your dog consider our classes to be the best "game" yet! Dogs learn by doing "things" that are to their advantage and avoid "things" that are NOT to their advantage.

This philosophy is the building block to training a happy dog that wants to please YOU.

Our facility also provides opportunities for practice sessions and simulated dog show run-thrus. Our instructors are all volunteers that are available to help you with questions or problems that you may be experiencing with your dog.  If we are not able to handle your situation we have references to others in the area that can help.

The goals of M.A.D.T.A. are to have every dog be a good canine citizen and a well-loved family member.
