Competition Novice Obedience Class 

Class Description:

This class is for dogs who want to compete in AKC Obedience.  The skills taught in this class will get you ready to enter an AKC Obedience trial at the Novice level.  Skills taught are: precision heeling on lead and off lead, Stand stay with a person able to go over the dog, recall from 30 ft away , fronts and finishes.  You will also learn some training games to keep the training upbeat.  

Prerequisites for this class: completion of the Advance beginner class or an AKC BN title.

Crates are required for this class

Advanced Foundations for Competition Obedience 

• Five  Week Session - $70 non-members /$55 members
• Sundays  11:00 am to 12:00 pm

Class Description:

This class is for experienced handlers and/or dogs and handlers that have completed the Beginner Foundations class.  This class will progress the dog and handler to higher levels of obedience skills, including command discrimination and dumbbell work, using skills the dog has mastered in the Beginner class.

Pre- Open Obedience & Retrieving  

• Seven Week Class  $95 non member /$80 Member

Class Description

This class is for the competition obedience dog that is Just learning  to retrieve a dumbbell from the floor consistently.  This class will focus on learning a reliable retrieve from the floor,  retrieving from a distance, both on the flat and over the high jump using a positive methodology.  The class will also include introduction to the broad jump exercise.  Prerequisites  completion of the Foundations of Obedience classes, or solid off leash control of your dog around distractions or a CD title.

A Dog Crate is required at all classes

Open Obedience 

Class Description

This class is for the competition obedience dog that has retrieving & jumping skills.  This class teaches the AKC Open Obedience exercises using a positive methodology.

Prerequisites: An AKC Companion Dog title, completion of the Pre-Open and Retrieving class or permission of the Instructor. 

Crate required for each class.

Utility Obedience Class 

• Six Week Session - $80 non-members /$65 members
• Sunday  11:00 am to 1:00 pm

Class Description:

This class will focus on teaching the Utility exercises used in AKC Utility competition. Each week we will work on 2-3 exercises, and we will be working many of the exercises with a few different dogs and handlers in the ring.  Handlers will also help each other by putting out articles and gloves, and doing the moving stand exercise. 

Prerequisites: Your dog must have a reliable Retrieve and be able to work off lead with other dogs also off lead. 

Equipment:  You must have a set of scent articles and 3 white gloves.  See AKC Obedience Rules for requirements for articles and gloves.

Open/Utility Obedience -Proofing 

• Five Week session - $70 non member / $55member
• Wednesdays 8:45 AM- 10:00 AM

Class Description: 

This class is for dog and handler teams that have a full understanding of the Open and Utility exercises.  Instruction will be offered on ways to improve and polish your performances.  Challenges will be used to assure you and your dog have a full understanding of each exercise and can work under stress and induced pressure. 

Prerequisites: The class requires that you can demonstrate to the instructor that you can perform ALL Open & Utility exercises & that the dog has a solid understanding of those exercises.

Dogs MUST be capable of working off leash around other working dogs whilst being under FULL voice command”

 Dog Crates are required at every class.
